Global Game Jam

Punk Skunk is an Unreal Engine game I made with a team during Global Game Jam 2010, in which we had to make a game in 48 hours, and required to be based upon two of three possible themes: "punks," "skunks," and "monks." The player is a skunk searching a garage for a spray can to help disguise himself as a cat so he can infiltrate a lady's home and make it stink. It is a platformer in which the player can grab and throw objects, and manipulate the environment to create a path through the levels.

I was a level designer on this game.

My Work On This Game:

  • Collaborated with design team to design levels

  • Designed and built levels in Unreal level editor

  • Designed mix of platforming and obstacle-moving challenges to lead player on adventure through environment

  • Placed player-moveable obstacles to give players feeling of control over environment

  • Cooperated with programming and art teams to implement features in 2 days

 

I was a level designer and world builder on this project. It was a fun experience and I got to meet a lot of great people. It was a lot of not-sleeping and quite a bit of tension when we realized halfway through that the physics-based puzzles we designers planned wouldn't be feasible by the end of the 48 hours. Credit to the programmers for coming up with a new design we could implement at the last minute!
